The most common injury that runners seem to get is a condition known as patellofemoral pain syndrome or anterior knee pain. It is an overuse injury that affects up to a quarter of runners as some stage. The pain is usually behind the knee cap or patella. There are several gurus out there who are really nothing more than one hot wonders who advocate one treatment is the ONE treatment and the only way to go. Some argue it all comes from the hip and other argue it all comes from the foot. The changes at the hip and foot alter the biomechanics that cause the problem. In reality its probably not one or the other, but a combination. Any sensible approach to patellofemoral pain in runners is going to take into account all factors and tailor as treatment based on that, rather than the fervent belief of the one guru.
