This is the age old dilemma. Some people play sport to get fit and others need to get fit to play sport. If you want to compete at a higher level, then of course you are going to have to get fit to play sport. However, at the lower levels of competition and recreational sports, should you need to get fit? Of course you should. You are at a higher risk for injury if you do not prepare., so do not rely on sport to get you fit; get fit for the sport!
